The GreenBuilt Home Tour features exceptional, award-winning, and nationally-recognized homes throughout Illinois, which highlight attractive, affordable, and sustainable building practices. During the two-day event, attendees will learn the ways the built environment contributes to a healthier community. The tour includes Illinois’ finest builders, designers and homeowners who have created healthy, energy saving green homes.
New in 2019, the tour features two tracks of homes:
The Certified Green Homes are third-party verified (or pending verification) to ensure they are built (or being built) to national standards, earning certification through programs such as: ENERGY STAR for Homes, LEED for Homes, the National Green Building Standard, Zero Energy Ready Home, Illinois GreenStar, and Passive House. Because the homes are built better, they deliver measurable savings, comfort, and health to their owners.
The Green Renovation Homes highlights existing homes that have embedded sustainable features into green projects. These homes
showcase green features like renewable energy, restored prairie, storm water management, and energy efficiency strategies. Connect with the homeowners to learn how they implemented these green features into their own homes and gain resources and tips for your own green home projects.
